Top activities for kids at the Paseo Club

Are you a member of the Paseo Club but do not know what the kids' programs are? Or are you interested in becoming a member but aren't sure if there is anything at the club for your child to do?

Paseo Club is a social club that emphasizes fitness, health, and community. It was created to offer something for every member of your family, from babies to seniors.

We developed these programs for kids to help them learn about different types of fitness and to support them on their personal journey to wellness.

We selected these programs in this article because of how popular they are at the club and by member request. Classes are listed alphabetically.

In this article, we will talk about all the kid's programs offered at Paseo during the school year and school vacations. You will learn about the age groups, cost, and class schedules so you can determine if they are a good fit for your child.

Activities for Kids at Paseo Club

1. Tennis

After-school Junior Tennis Academy is taught to students of all ages in the afternoons during the week. The class schedule is determined by availability.

Children as young as three can begin to learn the basics through the ABCs of sports: agility, balance, and coordination. All levels of play are encouraged, from new players to our Elite Tournament Training players.

Classes for younger children are $21-25 per lesson depending if you are a member or not and if you are paying for lessons individually or in bulk. The cost varies between $42-70 per lesson for older kids and children competing in tennis.

You can register your child for classes here. Lessons run from August 8, 2022 through June 9, 2023. They are available to members and non-members.

Tennis camps are available during the summer.

2. Kids Fitness Certification

Junior certification is a multi-week program led by trainer Jodi Broz. Each week

kids meet for a session to learn gym etiquette and proper body mechanics while lifting weights.

  • Sessions are 8 classes at 30 minutes or 6 classes for 45 minutes
  • 12-13-year-olds
  • $199 for the series
  • Inquire at the club to see when the next session starts

3. Kids Fitness Class

This is a fun class designed for kids to experience friendly competition and camaraderie while getting stronger, more agile, and building endurance.

The instructor, Cayden Dunn, uses relay races, games, obstacle courses, and drills using cones, ladders, and hurdles.

  • For kids ages 7-12
  • Tuesdays and Thursdays at 4:15 pm
  • 45 minute-long class
  • Free to members

4. Martial Arts

Victory Martial Arts is teaming up with Paseo for martial arts classes that get your child fit and encourage respect and friendship. This class is held twice per week and is available to members and non-members.

  • Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:30-5:15 pm
  • For children ages 3-8
  • $103 per month per child

5. Pickleball

Paseo offers group lessons for our juniors to learn the fastest-growing sport in the country! Our instructors take a group of 3 or 4 and teach them all the foundations of the game.

  • For kids ages 6 and older
  • $30 per lesson for three participants and $25 per lesson for four participants
  • Inquire at the club to learn when the group lessons are happening

Pickleball camp is available in the summer.

6. Private training

Paseo Club offers private training to kids who want one-on-one training to help them reach their fitness goals. A trainer will assess your child and develop a plan based on their current fitness level and their goals.

This is a great option for youth who are new to fitness and want to get experience before they join a class or exercise on their own. Student-athletes in the off-season also like these one-on-ones to prepare for their specific sport.

Private training sessions are available to kids ages eight and up. The cost is between $75-95 per class. Classes can be arranged based on your schedule.

7. Swim lessons

Kids learn to swim in the junior-Olympic pool year-round. Dorado Swim runs the swim program and has beginner to advanced groups for kids ages five and up.

  • Private: 4 Pack - $210.00 and 8 Pack - $400.00
  • Semi-Private: 4 Pack - $140.00 (Per swimmer) and 8 Pack - $240.00 (Per swimmer)
  • Group (3-5 Swimmers): 8 Pack - $240.00 (Each Swimmer)

Kids who want a taste of competition can get evaluated for the swim team. There are competitive swimmers as young as five years old and goes up to people in their 20s.

Swimmers compete in meets that include other sanctioned clubs across Southern California. As swimmers get faster and earn “cuts,” they begin qualifying for higher-level meets from Junior Olympics up to Sectionals, Junior Nationals, Nationals, and Olympic Trials.

Swim programs are available to members and non-members.

For information regarding evaluations, registration, schedules, and pricing, contact Maria Piltzer, Membership Director.

8. Teen fitness classes

Teens 14 years and older can participate in all group exercise classes at the Paseo Club. Most classes are free to members except for a few select ones.

There are over 60 fitness classes available each week. Your teen can see the schedule online and then reserve their spot. They can choose Pilates, yoga, HIIT, cardio, cycle, and more.

Final steps to getting your child involved at the Paseo Club

Teaching youth about fitness requires a different approach than teaching adults. There are age-appropriate strategies and motivational approaches that are best used for children to inspire healthy habits that they will retain for a lifetime.

One of the best methods for encouraging participation is to make the activity fun and create a positive environment. When there is laughter, teamwork, and activity happening together, kids are more likely to stay engaged and come back for more!

Paseo Club has supported kids, adults, and seniors to be healthy and well since 2003. We love to have fun while getting fit with our youngest members!
