It can be hard keeping employees motivated to come to work and also keep up on their personal goals in the middle of a pandemic.

Most people become worried about their personal health as well as the health and safety of the family they leave behind while working a 6-8 hour shift. One way to promote a productive and positive mindset for those working during these troubling times is to create an employee fitness challenge. An employee fitness challenge has many benefits for employees, managers, and members alike. If you are hesitant about joining the fitness program offered to you by your place of work here are three fantastic benefits for you to consider.

1. Forming New Habits

A habit is a formed automatic response. An example of a positive habit would be working out for 30 minutes each day. It takes 21 days to make or break a habit. This includes bad habits as well such as smoking a cigarette before or after each meal. Bad habits like this can be reshaped through a structured fitness program provided by your company. The more you practice a desired habit the easier it becomes. There are multiple steps involved in creating new habits or breaking old ones. If you don't know where to start, joining a fitness challenge gives you the opportunity to set goal plans with a fitness professional who can help you get started.

2. Strategies for Success

Do you have a specific routine that you start first thing in the morning? How about before bed each night? Most people have a certain schedule that they follow with one task leading to the next until all tasks for the day are complete. Consistency is vital to making or breaking habits and reaching new goals. The more you practice a habit, the easier it will become and the less you will have to think about it. It becomes a part of your daily routine. Joining a fitness challenge at work strengthens your ability to be consistent by showing up to all classes and putting effort into meeting your goals.

3. The Importance of a Support System

Have you ever moved to a new city or town and realized that by leaving your family and friends behind you have no support system? It can also be hard tackling new goals and challenges on your own. Joining a fitness challenge through your company is a great way to meet like minded individuals who are working towards conquering the same goals. Watching other people create new habits can inspire you to focus on yours. By creating a support group for yourself, you allow yourself to make new friends and get to know the people that you work with as well.

Joining a fitness challenge can be an exciting experience. It offers you ways to complete goals that you set for yourself. It provides resources through fitness instructors to help you create a plan and it offers a great support system through everyone participating to help you stay accountable and focused.
