trainer and member high five

Personal trainers are often viewed as a luxury expense of the stars. The Kardashians have one. Oprah has one. Even Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson gets one-on-one sessions with a private instructor.

Most of us aren’t multi-millionaires, but that doesn't mean we can't budget time with a personal trainer. For thousands of people all over the world, personal trainers have been instrumental not just in weight loss but also in recovering from injuries, building strength, preparing for a competition, and cross-training to become more effective in a sport of choice

The Paseo Club is a private social club in Santa Clarita that has served the community for over twenty years. We offer many types of fitness options — indoor and outdoor gyms, group exercise classes, small group training programs, and several personal trainers to choose from.

In this article, you will hear from everyday people with diverse backgrounds and needs who chose to work with personal trainers at The Paseo Club. You will learn why they chose a personal trainer, what their goals were, their experiences, and most importantly, their outcomes.

Succeeding with Personal Trainers at The Paseo Club

“I hired Jodi Broz as a personal trainer so I could have more in-depth training, focusing on what I wanted and what I needed in a workout. I was at a medium to high fitness level when I started, and what I wanted was more weight training using heavier weights.
My goal was to keep my muscle tone and to lean out. I wanted to learn how to better slow my movements down and make them more controlled with greater resistance.
The benefits I always notice are that I have large amounts of energy, strength, balance, and vitality.
I know the importance of keeping a regular exercise routine. Since I’m getting older, I’m trying to make necessary adjustments that best fit me and my body and address what I want.
I picked Jodi Broz to work with because she is great at knowing her clients and what they want and need. She is on top of pushing them to exceed their goals!”

“Practicing yoga with Justin Barnes is nothing short of transformational. From the moment you step into the room, you feel enveloped in a space of warmth, strength, and intention. There is something truly magical about the way he guides each class — with kindness, presence, and an obvious dedication to his practice.
He brings a powerful blend of strength and gentleness to every session. His deep understanding of the body is evident in the way he tailors each pose, always prioritizing safety, while also encouraging growth. He challenges you but never pushes you beyond your ability. Instead, he empowers you to trust yourself, listen deeply, and rise with grace. He is dedicated to the well-being and safety of every student.
His friendly spirit makes everyone feel welcome, whether you're brand new to yoga or have been practicing for years. He creates an environment where vulnerability is honored, and progress is celebrated. You leave each class not only stronger in body but clearer in mind and more open in your heart. The light in me, honors the light in you, Justin! Namaste.”

“When I first joined Paseo, I really had to focus on my journey, my goals. It can be really intimidating to get started at the gym, but Tara's support and reassurance made me want to attend my sessions.
Tara has been essential to my recovery from an injury. She is attentive, knowledgeable, and helpful. Even if I’m having an off day, she is reassuring and keeps me on track.
We train for functional fitness. For example, I recently went on a trip, and in preparation, we worked on my shoulders so I could lift my luggage overhead on the airplane.
I have balance issues, so we trained hard because my trip would entail going up and down stairs in castles, and museums, as well as walking on uneven cobblestones. During my trip, I felt very confident and well-prepared for all activities. I navigated one castle that had over 600 stairs...with ease.
Personal training sessions have made a huge difference in my life and what I’m able to do. Tara has such a wonderful personality. She's always patient with me. She knows that, at times, we may take a few steps back, but we will always continue moving forward. Tara is the reason I continue to be a member.

"I have always loved fitness, but I took a long break after giving birth to my twins. Once they started school full-time, I got back into the gym.
I hired a personal trainer because I wanted someone to help me focus on developing my core strength, balance, and overall well-being. I wanted to get stronger and keep up with my kids. I also wanted to maintain my weight through strength training. I wanted to have someone to train with who inspired me by the way they approached their daily workouts — someone who practiced what they taught. I wanted someone who had confidence in me to be the best version of myself.
I chose Lynette as my trainer after taking many of her classes. Her classes are always original, and challenging, and they make me feel great afterward. Lynette is an Ironman athlete. She has competed in several events other than triathlons. She inspires me to try things out of my comfort zone. She helped me train and compete in my first Triathlon at the age of 53.
Since then, I have done a few more, and at the age of 62, I am looking forward to doing another. Lynette has been my best advocate to stay healthy and maintain my fitness level. Many times, I surprise myself with what I can do in the gym. Functional fitness and strength training are super important at my age. I love all our sessions.
I think I look pretty good for my age. I am strong, I have energy, and I absolutely love how I feel after a strength class, training one-on-one. Lynette encourages me every step of the way.
I wish everyone could have the chance to work with Lynette one-on-one. Lucky for us at The Paseo Club, she offers a variety of classes that keep us strong and healthy in both body and mind. Her approach to training is so holistic. She takes the time to ensure that you get a terrific yet challenging workout that is safe, balanced, and focuses on your overall strength and well-being. I have taken many classes in the past and have come out injured, sore in a bad way, or just not satiated. This has never happened in a Lynette class. She is just the best."

"I hired a personal trainer to help motivate and guide me through my weight loss and health journey. I had no prior physical activity before starting my training. My goals are to overcome health issues and healthily lose weight. With my trainer, Daniel, I now focus on functional fitness and strength training, which I'd never done before. I have noticed an improved mood, better sleep, and increased motivation to continue developing healthier habits. Daniel is an excellent trainer who not only understands the body but also how the mind and body connect for ultimate success."

“In September of 2024, I went to a functional medicine practice. They evaluated my fitness and the injuries that I had sustained. I had shoulder impingement and nerve issues in my forearm. I wasn’t able to exercise, and my muscles started to atrophy.
These injuries were, in part, from another personal trainer at a different facility. The trainer pushed me to row faster and faster during a session, and ultimately I harmed myself, and the experience set me back.
The exercise physiologist at the functional medicine practice told me I needed to train with someone who has a degree in exercise physiology. My daughter, Chantal, had worked with Cezanne and loved her. My physio sent an email to Cezanne telling her about me and my situation.
My first meeting with Cezanne in October was a free initial assessment. We discussed my health issues and muscle and nerve injury. Cezanne understood a lot of what I was going through. She listened well and devised a plan for me to strengthen supportive areas and let other muscles heal.
I am a certified aerobics instructor and am used to using lower weights and high rep counts. Cezanne encouraged me to lift heavier at fewer reps. When I first started with Cezanne, I could only lift 8-10 pounds with a dumbbell chest press, and now I can do 30. I’ve tripled some of my weights.
My posture has changed, and I have increased flexibility. I can perform exercises in good form with heavier weights, and I feel stronger. I have regained some of the muscle I lost, and my quality of life is better. My injuries are 90% better.
Cezanne is encouraging, relatable, knowledgeable, and professional. I joined the club for her because I feel so strongly about her and our sessions together. I train with Cezanne twice a week and never miss it unless I am on vacation.
Personal training with Cezanne is a big part of the fun in my week. It makes me a better person.”
