Why 6-week fitness programs make a difference in your health

Whether you have been too busy this summer with projects, traveling, or hosting guests, you may have realized that your fitness routine has slid to the wayside. Your pants are too tight, and the neighborhood loop you always jog is suddenly harder than before.

It is impossible to be lean and fit year-round. Life simply gets in the way. Whether your clothes don’t fit, your regular workout is feeling difficult, or you want to jazz up your exercise regimen, a six-week fitness program can be the answer you are looking for.

Six-week fitness programs are designed and led by qualified instructors to help you safely learn new movements, create new routines, and meet others to build camaraderie and social connections.

In this article, you will learn why six-week-long fitness programs are so effective, what the benefits are, and what changes you can expect after completing a program.

Many people come to six-week-long fitness programs to try to develop new healthier habits. But making changes that last is hard to do.

Research suggests that some key elements make a difference:

Fitness programs run for six weeks because it works best for program adherence and is most effective for participants to make long-lasting changes in their lifestyle.

By participating in a small group training session, you become accountable not only to your coach, but also to your group.

Training in a small group helps people get to know one another and share the joys and challenges of getting fit. In this environment, the instructor and classmates become an integral support system.

You develop a sense of responsibility to the group to show up not only for yourself, but for your new friends too. Plus, when you have others cheering you on, you feel motivated to return to class, time and time again.

Group dynamics and support maintain enthusiasm and make workouts more enjoyable and easier.

There are several benefits to joining a six-week training program.

Camaraderie

You attend class with the same group of people when you sign up for a six-week program. Being a part of a group helps you to stay motivated, creating bonds with others. This increases program adherence and helps you to feel a sense of community.

Results Driven

Six-week-long fitness programs begin with a fitness assessment. Generally, that includes recording the measurements of your body fat percentage, weight, and circumference of key areas of the body. Your strength, endurance, and cardiovascular health are also assessed.

This same assessment is done a second time at the end of the program. This gives you tangible results that measure your fitness and body shape progress.

Consistent Instructor

When you join a six-week fitness series, you have the same instructor for the entire time. They get to know you personally — goals, limitations, frustrations, and injury history. The instructor can scale the program when necessary and know when to challenge you to push harder.

Create New Routines

A fundamental part of a six-week series is creating new habits and new routines. When you attend fitness class two to three times per week it gets you into a new positive groove that is easy to continue once the program ends.

Grow with the Program

The workouts in a fitness series are pre-planned, scalable, and progressive. They are designed to help you become stronger and more fit each week, supporting you in reaching all your goals and avoiding stagnation.

Six weeks is ample time to lose weight, build muscle, and increase your endurance. People who adhere to the program can expect to be stronger, faster, and leaner.

You experience these results even more when the fitness program is paired with improved nutritional habits. Higher vegetable and protein intake with fewer carbohydrates and sugars helps you to drop unnecessary weight and give your body the perfect fuel for training.

Participants feel a sense of accomplishment and pride in their results, which improves their self-confidence.
