Did You Know Paseo Has A Walking Group?

Paseo offers a walking group three times per week.  We walk on the beautiful paseos that surround the club.  It's nice to get outside with a group of members and walk a few miles together.  You will meet new people and get a great workout at the same time.  You decide how many miles you want to walk.  I will be there to make sure everyone knows the route!

Walking is a great way to stay in shape and may be a better exercise choice for some people.  It can help you reach your fitness and weight loss goals.  Walking improves cardiac health and fitness.  It can also alleviate depression and fatigue, creates less stress on the joints, and improves endurance, circulation and posture.

Studies have shown walking increases your creative output, increases joviality, vigor, attentiveness, and self-confidence.  Walking helps improve memory and prevents the deterioration of brain tissue.  It also is known to reduce anxiety and boost your mood!  We all need a little mood booster now and again.

I was a runner for years.  I participated in several half and full marathons, as well as triathlons.  The years of over use on my body caught up with me and I had to have a partial knee replacement in both knees.  I have also suffered with back pain, and a few years ago I decided to slow it down and start walking instead of running.

At first, I wasn’t sure about walking a half marathon, but now I have walked over 20.  I love it.  I usually walk with friends and it is so enjoyable. The time goes by much faster when you are engaged in conversation with others.  Yes, we are in the back half of the finishers at a race, but we go the same distance and get the same medal!  The fact is, we are beating everyone home on the couch!!!!

This is a great way to get involved at the club.

These walks leave me feeling rejuvenated, relaxed and very well worked out.

Walking class at the Paseo Club is Monday and Thursdays at 8:00 am, and Saturdays at 7:00 am.  As of June 1, all three classes will be starting at 7:00 am.  If you have any questions please contact me, at Melanie@thepaseoclub.com.
