What are the new fitness classes at the Paseo Club?

By Jen Azevedo

Beginning a new fitness routine, or changing the one you already have, can be intimidating. But you can become more comfortable when you learn about the available classes.

The Paseo Club is an eight-acre private club with indoor and outdoor training facilities, tennis and pickleball courts, and a junior-Olympic pool open year-round.

We offer over 60 fitness classes each week. Recently we have updated and created some new favorites for our members.

In this article, we will share with you the four new exercise classes the Paseo Club features. By the end of the article, you will know what the classes are, who they are for, when they are available, and how to sign up.

Strength and Tone

Strength and Tone is a great resistance training workout. It helps to build muscle, increase endurance, and burn fat.

This class targets the entire body. Participants use various props such as resistance bands, weights, and gliding discs, as well as their body weight.

Attend this class as your primary exercise or use it to cross-train for your favorite sport.

This class is low-impact so it is a great choice for members who want to avoid aggravating their joints. Most of the movements can be modified if necessary.

This class is taught on Monday through Thursday at various times. Consult the fitness calendar for the time slot that best works for you. You can reserve your spot in class up to 72 hours in advance.

Please bring your own mat, towel, and water.

Power Rhythm Ride

Power Rhythm Ride is a high-intensity cardiovascular cycle class. Pedal through hill climbs, sprints, and many other challenging drills, all while riding to the beat of the music.

This class elevates your heart and makes you sweat. It helps people  build their aerobic capacity, improve heart health, and strengthen and tone the lower body and core.

This class is for all levels. Members that are new to Power Rhythm Ride, or new to cycling, can titrate the intensity to a more moderate level.

This class is available on Monday mornings from 8:30-9:30 am. This class is a great jumpstart to your week!

Cycle Blast Off and Beats

If you love cycling, and couldn’t get enough of Power Rhythm Ride, then check out Cycle Blast Off and Beats.

This super fun and challenging class is a classic indoor cycle ride with a healthy dose of rhythm riding. You will conquer sprints, hills, and develop endurance in class. Drills help you move your body to the beat.

Cycle Blast provides awesome music, a sweaty kick-butt workout, and a good time every ride!

Cycle Blast Off and Beats is taught on Thursdays from 6-7 pm.

Light Flow/Therapeutics Yoga

This class emphasizes a slow flow of creative sequencing that builds heat, endurance, flexibility, and strength. Students consciously focus on their breath while being challenged with elements of flow, balance, and holding postures.

The second half of class is spent on therapeutics. Therapeutics is restorative, relaxing, releasing, stabilizing, strengthening, and healing. It helps to quiet the mind, soothes the nervous system, lowers blood pressure, and decreases stress.

Participants leave class with a calm mind, a body that feels more open and relaxed, and a greater sense of peace.

This class is suitable for all levels. The instructor can make modifications for anyone who needs them.

Whether you're healing from an injury or just want to relax, this class is for you.

Light Flow/Therapeutics Yoga is offered Mondays at 9:30 am and Wednesdays at 8 am.

How to prepare for a new class

You should take a few important steps when you plan to attend a fitness class for the first time.

  1. Be hydrated. If you don’t hydrate, your body can’t perform at its best.
  2. Come to class early and introduce yourself to the instructor. This is the time to tell them about your experience in fitness and to communicate about any injuries you have had and modifications you will need in class.
  3. Bring a water bottle and a towel. You will likely get sweaty in class and need to rehydrate.
  4. Wear appropriate clothing. Depending on the class you choose, you will have slightly different needs. Generally speaking, choose clothing that allows you to stretch and bend into different positions. Stretchy fabric is better than loose fitting, which can bunch and not wick sweat well.

The Paseo Club offers a variety of classes for members of all ages and abilities. Members can see the entire selection and sign up for a class by going to the fitness calendar. Look for HIIT, Pilates, Liquid Cardio (water aerobics), barre, Zumba, and more.
