What is a Pop-Up Class?

January 27th, 2023 | 3 min. read

Do you love to work out but feel stagnant in your exercise routine?

Do you need to challenge yourself in a new way but aren’t sure how?

Do you need to train other areas of your body but aren’t sure what movements are best?

Whether it is weights, tennis, cycling, running, or swimming, anyone can fall into a rut with their fitness habits.

Pop-up classes are featured classes offered so participants can try new workouts outside of their regular workout programming.

The Paseo Club is a social club in the Santa Clarita Valley that focuses on fitness, health, and community. We offer over 60 fitness classes each week. We also provide monthly (and sometimes more!) pop-up classes to help encourage members to explore new and different ways to get fit.

In this article, we will share what a pop-up class is, the benefits of attending a pop-up, and what pop-up classes you will see “popping up” at the Paseo Club.

What is a pop-up class?

Pop-up classes are classes offered to people to expose them to new exercises. The intent of hosting a pop-up class is to encourage people to consider making changes in their current approach to fitness and try something new.

Pop-ups are frequently employed when there is a new instructor,  fitness class, or fitness system or style.

What are the benefits of attending a pop-up class?

Attending a pop-up class provides a whole host of benefits to the attendees:

  • Meet new friends
  • Learn a new fitness method
  • Train with a new fitness teacher
  • Try a specialty class that is not regularly available
  • Save a few dollars — some pop-ups are free or at a reduced rate

When can Paseo Club members check out a pop-up class?

The Paseo Club offers pop-up classes on Friday nights. But sometimes there are bonus pop-up classes on additional weeknights or during specialty events such as the Paseo Palooza on February 3rd-5th.

What types of pop-ups are at the Paseo Club?

The Paseo Club loves variety! There are multiple options of pop-up classes to choose from throughout the year.

  • Step class
  • Dance class
  • Zumba class
  • DJ Cycle classes
  • Yoga for pickleball and tennis players
  • 30-30-30 with 30 minutes of barre, 30 minutes of Zumba, and 30 minutes of hip hop

What pop-ups are available at the Paseo Palooza?

The Paseo Palooza on February 3-5 is the place for trying out a new pop-up class. There are four classes to choose from and six time slots. Best of all, all pop-ups at Paseo Palooza are free!

DJ Cycle

On Friday, February 3rd, from 6:00 to 7:00 pm, join Trish Deboni with a pop-up class of DJ Cycle. Listen to upbeat music and torch those thighs as you follow an energetic cycling program. Please register at spivi.com.

Zumba Dance Party

Dance may be the best disguise for when you need to exercise but don’t really want to. Check out this Zumba class and get your groove on while moving to Latin beats. This pop-up is on Friday, February 3rd, from 6-7:30 pm. No registration is needed.

Blood Flow Restriction

Blood Flow Restriction is the most cutting-edge trend in fitness. Use bands to compress the muscles around your arms or legs, and then follow a workout sequence of body weight and free weight exercises. This class is available at 10:00 am and again at 11:00 am on Saturday, February 4. No registration is needed.

Pilates Reformer

This pop-up is for everyone who has heard about the benefits of Pilates but thought that the Pilates reformer machine looked intimidating. Learn how you can tighten your core, improve your posture, and get all-over toning in this pop-up Pilates reformer class. There are two times to choose from — Saturday, February 4, at 8:30-9:00 am or 9:00-9:30 am. No registration is needed.

Do attendees need to bring anything special to a pop-up class?

When you try out a pop-up class, bring what you normally need at a fitness class — moisture-wicking, trim-fitting clothing, and water.

People who plan to attend the DJ cycle class should bring their cycle shoes (if they have them).

Attendees of the Pilates class can bring Pilates socks if they own a pair. Otherwise, wear regular socks.

Checking out your next pop-up

In this article, you learned what a pop-up class is, the benefits of attending a pop-up, and what the next pop-ups are at the Paseo Club.

Pop-up classes are a fun way to meet new people, check out a different instructor, and learn a new fitness method. Attending a pop-up class helps you break out of your exercise rut and challenge yourself to try something new.

The Paseo Club has been making fitness fun for almost 20 years. Members can enjoy fitness classes, pickleball, tennis, and swimming.

When they aren’t breaking a sweat in class or on the courts, they are hanging out with friends at the cafe or relaxing with a massage or facial at the on-site spa.

Schedule a Tour

If spending time at a fitness center that values community connections and health sounds like a good combination to you, then come in for a tour and see what the Paseo Club is all about.
