Aubrey's Farewell

Oh man, where do I even begin?

I guess I’ll start by introducing myself to those who may not know me and I have not had a chance to meet. My name is Aubrey, and I am an employee at the Paseo Club, and have worked back in the kid’s club for the past almost six years now. And for those who don’t know, I recently have gotten engaged to my best friend, whom I will be marrying the end of this coming January. He also happens to be the one relocating me, therefore, I am having to say goodbye to my beloved workplace, the Paseo Club.

Let’s take it back so I can explain what the Paseo Club means to me, and how hard of a goodbye this will be for me.

My parents signed up to become members before it even opened. Yes, they were one of the people who signed up for a membership in a trailer parked where the club’s tennis area is now. I have many memories at the Paseo Club prior to my employment. I practically grew up at the Paseo Club, whether it was doing homework in the loggia, having end of school year parties at the pool, or going to volleyball banquets in what is now known as the TRIBE room. With that being said, I have seen the Paseo Club over many different phases.

When I was 16 years-old, I got hired to work in the kid’s corner. I will never forget my first day literally thinking to myself that there is no way possible I am actually getting paid to play board games, draw with chalk, and play tag. From my first day, I absolutely loved working at the Paseo Club Kid’s Corner. Overtime I had the chance of developing great relationships and friendships with families and my coworkers. I’ve watched kids from the age of 3 months old, that are now going into Kindergarten, and it’s absolutely crazy to me. And I’ve seen families of 3 grow to families of 5.

This job has taught me quite a lot, and has helped shape the course of my future. By working here, I realized that I actually love working with kids and will pursue teaching, specifically in the 1st or 2nd grade.

It has been nothing short of an honor that I had the chance to work in my department. So, thank you Paseo members, for trusting the people in Kid’s Corner with your littles- we really do love and care for them.

Thank you for the opportunity you have given me, and all that you have taught me. I am forever grateful for my time at the Paseo Club.
